It has been an up and down season for the Alabama Crimson Tide, sitting at home this weekend watching Texas and Georgia face off in the SEC Championship and awaiting their playoff fate until Sunday afternoon after a 9-3 regular season.
While much of the blame for poor offensive performances in Alabama’s losses has fallen on quarterback and team captain Jalen Milroe, head coach Kalen DeBoer defended his electric playmaker during an appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show this week and talked about what makes him special:

“This guy is an elite football player and we put a lot on his shoulders,” DeBoer said. “He’s a guy that can hit the home run as you all know at any time. Anytime the ball is in his hands I know the opponent is nervous about what that play could end up being…passing wise his completion percentage is over 60 percent…he’s got the arm talent…he’s come through so much for us this season.”
Milroe’s limited ability to run an effective passing offense has resulted in some struggles this season and ultimately the results have been dictated by how he plays, but by the sounds of it no matter what the future holds for Alabama, DeBoer is backing his quarterback.
