Conservative students at The University of Alabama will gather for an on-campus prayer vigil following the assassination of conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

The vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Denny Chimes.

Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA in 2012, built one of the country’s largest college-based conservative networks. TPUSA’s college program spans more than 900 chapters nationwide.

Alabama campuses are part of that footprint, including a recognized TPUSA student organization at UA.

Kirk has a history of drawing campus-level attention in Tuscaloosa.

In 2021, he spoke near UA to a crowd of more than 200 with a small demonstration outside.

Alabama officials are reacting to the heartbreaking news of Kirk’s passing as federal authorities continue to investigate.
