Club for Growth Action, the federal super PAC associated with the Washington, D.C.- based Club for Growth, will launch a television ad promoting the U.S. Senate candidacy of former Auburn head football coach Tommy Tuberville.
Tuberville faces former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions next month in a runoff election for the GOP senatorial nomination.
The 30-second spot, given exclusively to Yellowhammer News, touts Tuberville as a Trump ally and takes one apparent shot at Sessions by referring to Tuberville as a winner and not a recuser.
“To drain the swamp, he had to break a little China. To keep America great, he needs a senator he can trust. Strong conservative, tough as nails — tough like Tuberville,” the narrator states. “Take it from President Trump, Tommy is a real leader, won’t back down, has Trump’s back. Enough with swampy politicians. Alabama wants winners, not recusers. Winning — that’s what Tommy Tuberville does. It’s game time, Alabama. Send Trump a senator.”
Club for Growth is no stranger to the Alabama U.S. Senate race. Back during the Republican primary, the organization ran numerous spots against then-candidate U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Fairhope).
