Club for Growth endorses Tommy Tuberville for Governor of Alabama in 2026

Ahead of an impending announcement by U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville next Tuesday in Auburn, the Club for Growth PAC, has endorsed his run for Governor of Alabama in 2026.

Club for Growth PAC has endorsed Sen. Tommy Tuberville (CfGF Lifetime Rating: 93%) in Alabama’s 2026 Gubernatorial race. Club for Growth PAC previously endorsed Sen. Tuberville in his 2020 Senate campaign, where he defeated incumbent Democrat Doug Jones by over 20 points,” a news release stated Wednesday.

In the 2020 U.S. Senate race in Alabama, the Club for Growth PAC played a massive role in supporting Tommy Tuberville’s campaign.

Initially, the Club had been supportive of Jeff Sessions during his tenure in the Senate. However, in early 2020, following President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Tuberville, the Club shifted its support to the former Auburn football coach.

“Coach Tuberville has been a steadfast leader for commonsense policy reforms in the United States Senate, and would champion fiscal responsibility, school freedom, and tax cuts in Montgomery,” said Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh.

“Coach is the obvious choice to lead Alabama as the state’s next Governor, and we are proud to endorse him,” he added.

According to the conservative PAC, Club for Growth Action and its affiliated Super PACs invested $163 million in races across the country and won 77.3% of their races.

It was reported publicly today that Sen. Tuberville (R-Auburn) will make his announcement to run for Governor of Alabama next Tuesday.

Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, once seen as Tuberville’s top potential rival, announced Wednesday morning that he will not run for governor in 2026. His move effectively clears the Republican field for Tuberville’s entry.

Tuberville’s decision not to seek a second Senate term also opens up Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat in 2026. Both of those Republican primary elections will be held on May 19, 2026.
