Presiding Judge Bill Lewis of Alabama’s 19th Judicial Circuit has announced his campaign for reelection. The circuit encompasses Autauga, Elmore, and Chilton counties.
“Practicing law across three states in both federal and state courts, I observed that the justice system was different based on who you were, where you were, and who you knew,” said Lewis. “I became a judge because I was tired of seeing a system that wasn’t fair. Everyone should be treated equally and with respect. That is what I have always done and what I will continue to do. Everyone should be treated fairly under the law.
“I will always apply the law, as written, no matter who is in my courtroom.”
Lewis graduated from the University of the South and earned his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham. Prior to becoming circuit judge in October 2016, Lewis founded the Lewis Law Firm after a career as an assistant district attorney.

He serves on the board of directors of the Alabama Circuit Judges Association and has been chairman of the Elmore County Republican Party since 2018.
Lewis has also served on the boards of directors of the River Region United Way, the Elmore County Community Foundation, and the Wetumpka Chamber of Commerce and served as president of the Elmore County Bar Association. He is a graduate of Leadership Elmore County.
“I appreciate the support that I have received from across our three counties,” he said. “Whether you are a litigant or an attorney, whether you win or lose your case, the process should be fair and based on the law for everyone.”
