Let there be lights!

And a Chelsea family had the best and brightest to win “The Great Christmas Light Fight.”

The Cloutiers, whose displays are legendary in the Birmingham area, came out on top in the ABC TV competition.

For Ricky Cloutier, it’s more than a source of pride. He said he enjoys seeing the smiles and joy the display brings each year.

“I enjoy how happy it makes other people,” he told ABC. The show was filmed last year but the finale was aired last Monday.

“There’s a lot of people in this hobby and we all get together and I’ve met a lot of them, and it’s always been kind of like a dream of ours to be able to get on the show, the win was amazing,” he said

Though it is grand in size, Cloutier said they downsized the display this year to make it safer for onlookers driving by.

He said the display is a year-long process and the displays are made at home.

And the work is appreciated.

“I think it’s awesome,” a visitor told ABC. “The work that must have gone into it; I can really appreciate it.”

The display at 5703 Highway 39 in Chelsea will be up through the end of the year.
