New polling provided insight into how voters in Alabama’s newly-drawn 2nd Congressional District are feeling about the candidates they’ll choose from when they vote in the Republican primary on March 5, 2024 – as well as their current elected officials.
The survey, commissioned by ForestPAC and conducted by top research firm McLaughlin & Associates, logged an overwhelming disapproval of President Joe Biden (89.7%) and a skyhigh approval of the job Donald Trump did as president (79%).
Here’s how voters reported their favorability of Alabama’s leaders:
Kay Ivey
- Favorable – 75%
- Unfavorable – 22%
Tommy Tuberville
- Favorable – 60%
- Unfavorable – 33%
Katie Britt
- Favorable – 76%
- Unfavorable – 11%
Among the district that extends from northern Mobile to Washington County, through the Black Belt, into Montgomery, Russel and Barbour counties on the Georgia state line, voters indicated they’re undecided on who will represent them in Congress.
State Sen. Greg Albritton (R-Atmore) and former State Sen. Dick Brewbaker logged the highest name recognition and would be the top choice if voters were asked to decide today. (Brewbaker 24.3% / Albritton 12%)

Other GOP candidates featured in the poll included former NFL player and Bay Minette native Wallace Gilberry, as well as real estate lawyer with deep roots to Alabama farmland, Caroleene Dobson.
The poll, conducted the first week of December, offered a baseline for the two first-time candidates building their name recognition.
The district leans Democratic by design. The winner of Republican primary will prepare to aggressively mobilize voters to retain Alabama’s current GOP vote in Washington.
