“I really think in this state, regardless of which party folks are in, they’re committed to a better future for our kids here in Alabama,” Dobson began. “As the mother of two, I talked with many other voters again all different parties or self-affiliations. We all want safer communities, and we want more opportunities here in Alabama.”

The voting of noncitizens in Alabama’s elections, according to Dobson, represents a ‘disenfranchisement’ of legitimate registered voters.
“As the top election official in the role of Secretary of State, I will commit to ensuring that we have maintained voter rolls so that residents of Alabama are the only ones voting in Alabama elections who have legally registered to vote,” she said. “I think what people don’t really think about is when we have people on our voter rolls who aren’t residents of this state, who are not residents of the U.S, that’s disenfranchising the voices of Alabamians who are engaged, who our trying to make our state better. I will take that commitment to heart.”
Dobson also spoke about the possibility of forming an election crimes team to address voter fraud, much like Florida’s Election Crimes and Division model.
“Florida has a similar model, but actually developing a group of election experts within the office of the Secretary of State to work with our law enforcement, with our prosecutors, to actually apprehend, investigate, and prosecute folks who are trying to violate election laws.”
“Again, any violation of our election laws is a disenfranchisement of my voice, of your voice, of the voice of rightful Alabama voters.”
Dobson was born and raised on her family’s farm in Monroe County. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and graduated from the Baylor University School of Law.
Dobson joins Alabama State Auditor Andrew Sorrell in the Republican Primary for the Secretary of State race.
