Carl: Why I’m running for reelection

A few short years ago, my wife Tina and I watched our son return from active combat in Afghanistan, and we noticed he struggled to deal with the complicated Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. I told Tina if I ever had a chance to improve this system and do more for our nation’s veterans, I would. Soon after, I launched my campaign for the United States Congress.

Although improving the VA system was my initial motivation to run for Congress, I quickly got to work addressing so many serious issues facing our district, our state, and our nation as a whole. The America I see today is not the America I grew up in, and this troubles me greatly. The anti-American rhetoric I see from across the aisle constantly calling for defunding the police, refusing to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, and are showing a complete disregard for human life makes for very long days.

I’m beyond frustrated with Joe Biden and the way he is ruining the country you and I love so much. With Biden in the White House, our country is veering further and further away from our American values. Even worse, watching Nancy Pelosi and her liberal squad pull the string behind the curtain is a daily show. Pelosi’s ideas are terrible, and her policies are costing us and our families money we simply cannot afford to spend.

Fortunately, I think our brightest days are ahead. Everywhere I go, I hear from Americans who are just as frustrated as I am, and we are all ready for change. This encourages me because I know Republicans have a very strong chance at flipping the House later this year and firing lame duck Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Then and only then will we be able to bring some common sense back to Washington and begin the tough work of getting our country back on track.

From the time I wake up in the morning to the time my head hits the pillow at night, I’m working hard to fight for south Alabama and push back on the Pelosi/Biden agenda in Washington. This means fighting to build the wall and protect America, ensuring gun-grabbing liberals never infringe on our right to keep and bear arms, and protecting life. It also means stopping President Biden’s war on American energy production and his reckless spending, which is driving inflation through the roof.

South Alabama is where I grew up, started several businesses, and it’s where my wife and children love to call home. Now isn’t the time for us to turn back or give up. It’s time to dig in our heels and fight for the country we love. I’d be honored to continue serving you in Congress, and I humbly ask for your vote on May 24, 2022.
