Brutal illegal immigrant crime story in Alabama highlighted by U.S. House Judiciary Committee

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, is underscoring the Biden-Harris Administration’s role in a situation involving an illegal alien from Honduras brutally assaulting a teenage girl in a Prattville restaurant bathroom.

Grevi Geovanni Rivera Zavala, an illegal alien from Honduras, assaulted a teenage girl inside a restaurant on Cobbs Ford Road in Prattville, Alabama, in May 2023.

Moore (R-Enterprise) shared a new report released by the House Judiciary Committee that outlines how the crime against the Prattville teen could have been prevented if it were not for the current border crisis.

The report specifically points the finger at the Biden-Harris administration for failing to prevent Zavala from entering the U.S. as a “gotaway.”

“The Committee’s review of Rivera Zavala’s A-file reveals that, on November 29, 2021,
Border Patrol encountered Rivera Zavala in Eagle Pass, Texas, and subsequently expelled him to Mexico pursuant to Title 42 authority. According to an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations summary contained in his A-File, Rivera Zavala later entered the United States at an unknown time and place, presumably as a ‘gotaway,'” the report says.

The committee emphasized in the report that the president’s policies will only lead to more similar cases.

“The disastrous immigration policies of the Biden-Harris Administration have had real world consequences for American citizens,” the committee concluded in the report. “The effects of those policies will be felt for years to come, with criminal aliens in American neighborhoods harming families and hurting public safety across the country. Rivera Zavala’s victim suffered as a result of the Biden-Harris Administration’s open-borders policies incentivized him to cross the border and allowed him to illegally enter the country. Tragically, Rivera Zavala’s victim is not criminal illegal aliens’ only victim.”

Rivera-Zavala pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and was sentenced to 10-year in prison. After his sentence is completed, He then will be released into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and deported.

“Thanks to the reprehensible policies of the Biden-Harris Administration, every town is a border town,” Moore said. “Even Prattville, Alabama.”
