Auburn University men’s basketball head coach Bruce Pearl has never been shy about his love of country.
On the 80th anniversary of D-Day, which marks the allied forces invasion of the beaches of Normandy, which began the liberation of France and laid the foundation for the end of World War II, Pearl shared a tweet saying that the campers at his basketball camp had an emotional tribute to commemorate that fateful day in history.
This morning our basketball camp sang GOD BLESS AMERICA. We then stood at attention, with our right hands over our hearts and our left arms behind our back, for the playing of our national anthem. We taught our children in honor of the Hero's of June 6, 1944! @AuburnU pic.twitter.com/SGN6BnEAvc

Pearl also shared a video of President Reagan’s speech on the 40th anniversary of D-Day, 40 years ago today:
"These are the boys of Pointe du Hoc. These are the men who took the cliffs. These are the champions who helped free a continent. These are the heroes who helped end a war. These are the heroes who helped end a war."

He also shared several other posts surrounding D-Day which can be viewed here:
90% of the soldiers on the first boats to hit the beach didn't live to see the end of the day. Look at those faces. Some of them never made it to 18.

Every year on the anniversary of #DDay, French citizens take sand from Omaha Beach and rub it onto the gravestones of fallen soldiers who gave their lives to liberate Europe.
It gives the letters a golden shine.
