Bruce Pearl says he wants second win, sweep over Alabama on the season

The No. 1 ranked Auburn Tigers earned one of the biggest regular season wins in program history last weekend when they went into Tuscaloosa and defeated the No. 2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.

For as monumental as the victory was however, head coach Bruce Pearl isn’t going to be satisfied unless his team wins the rematch as well.

Pearl joined Dan Dakich of Outkick for an interview and spoke about the rivalry with Alabama, what the victory meant, and how his team has a job to finish when it comes to taking care of business in their own building when the Tide comes to town:

“It was a great game and obviously down the stretch we took care of business,” Pearl said. “But look…we’re gonna see those guys again. We’re gonna see them in our building in a couple weeks and the only way that win means really anything is if we can validate it by beating them at home. We’ve gotta complete the sweep, otherwise it’s a push and a push doesn’t get it done.”

It certainly seems like Pearl has his team’s mindset in the right place as they had down the final stretch of the season and get ready to try to finish off an SEC title and make a deep run in March.

When Alabama arrives in the final game of the year, the Tigers could very well already have the conference locked up. But that doesn’t matter to Pearl, and he won’t let it matter to his team either.
