The Auburn Tigers have just completed what was likely the best regular season in the entire history of the program, and their head coach is being recognized for it.
With the regular season now in the rearview and the SEC headed into the postseason, awards were handed out on Monday — and Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl named the conference’s Coach of the Year.
Pearl’s son Steven, who is on Bruce’s coaching staff, brought his new baby to see his father so he could give him the news surrounded by the most special people in his life in an emotional video shared by the program.

It was a banner season for the Tigers in a number of ways with Pearl delivering another SEC regular season title. After having his team ranked No. 1 for a program record eight consecutive weeks, Pearl’s Auburn enters the postseason as one of the favorites to push for a national championship with what is the best team he has ever had on The Plains.
The Tigers finished an incredible 15-3 in conference play despite the league being the best in the sport and the best it has ever been. After guiding Auburn to a 27-4 overall record, Pearl now sets his sights on Nashville and the SEC Tournament for what he will hope is a couple of tune up games ahead of the big dance.
Overall though no matter what happens the rest of the way, it’s a much deserved honor for Pearl and an award for which there was really no other option.
