For political nerds, now is usually a part of the four-year political cycle to look forward to.
Conventions, nominations, speeches and the unofficial kick-off of presidential elections are usually the number one news story of the month, but this is not a normal year.
This year has seen the coronavirus pandemic, economic insecurity, the USPS Apocalypse and months of protests.
These issues are all overshadowing the normal political coverage of this time of a presidential election year because when it comes to the American media, all things are political and serves as stand-ins for normal political coverage. All of these issues are part of the media and their Democrats’ political messaging machine that allows Democratic nominee Joe Biden to hide in his basement while national news reporters, commentators and paid partisans do his opposition research for him.
Congressman Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) appeared on the “The Dale Jackson Show” on the first day of the Republican National Convention and laid out what the Republican message needs to be this year to cut through the clutter and overwhelming media bias.
He stressed it needs to be about law and order.
Speaking both about the convention and the 2020 general election, up and down the ballot, Brooks said that Republicans need to focus on the “public policy issues” and asked the following questions:
- Who’s for law and order?
- Who’s for these riots, violence, killings and muggings that are occurring in our major cities and, to some degree, are spreading to suburbs?
The contrast is obviously huge. Democrats have made it clear they do not support the police.
Vice presidential nominee U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) couldn’t even say she supports the police in a recent interview, while Brooks believes Republicans and President Donald Trump are “for law and order, we protect the men and women who serve us in blue and preserve the peace.”
Without peace, there will be no rebounding economy and there will be no return to normal. Messages of socialism vs. capitalism will be used, battles over the border will be fought and complaints about healthcare will be heard, but it won’t matter if America is in flames for the next two-plus months.
Brooks believes this will be an election about substantive public policy issues, and that starts with defining where each side stands on public safety and a return to normalcy. On one side, you have Republicans and law and order, while Democrats seem to be open to supporting the riotous mobs, he added.
Brooks said, “American people don’t support socialist, they don’t support open borders, and they don’t support empowering the criminal element as the Democrat socialists have been doing.”
My takeaway:
Democrats need chaos until November 3 so they can save the day after Joe Biden is elected. They appear to be ready to burn down the country to get there.
