Britts aid injured athlete at son’s track meet

Sen. Katie Britt and her husband, Wesley, like many other parents, attend their children’s athletic events.

At a recent track and field meet, the couple put their school allegiance aside to offer assistance without hesitation to an injured athlete from a rival school.

Rick Karle of Birmingham station WVTM Channel 13 posted about the Britts’ actions.

“When you are former Bama offensive lineman Wesley Britt, and you are at a track meet Monday in Montgomery, AL with your wife Katie watching your son Ridgeway compete. When an athlete from LAMP, the opposing team, goes down with a serious leg injury. When you run to the athlete’s side and with the help of the U.S. Senator pick him up like a toothpick and carry the athlete to a car that transports him to an area hospital. When you are glad that your 6-foot-8-inch frame on 350 pounds comes in handy. When it’s not about politics, but about kindness. Kindness that makes our state great.”
