The World Cup in America this summer produced plenty of memorable moments, but many X users will remember following one international visitor’s journey across the country as he discovered everything America has to offer.

A German tourist known only as “Freddy” on his anonymous social media pages made quite an impression during his trip to Alabama. He documented part of his journey along the Gulf Coast on his way to catch a match in Houston. As he prepared to leave the country this week, Freddy said Fairhope was his group’s favorite town in the entire country — a comment that earned him a shoutout from U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery).

Britt invited Freddy back to the Yellowhammer State to get the full Alabama experience — a Tuscaloosa home game Saturday.

“I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to Alabama, but you haven’t gotten the full experience until you’ve seen a game day at the [University of Alabama],” Britt wrote. “We’d love to host you in Tuscaloosa this fall.”

Whether or not he actually makes the trip back across the pond for a college football game remains to be seen, but seeing the state of Alabama shine on a global scale this summer has to make residents smile. If Freddy does indeed make his grand return, it’s safe to say Tuscaloosa would welcome him with open arms.
