The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS) has named Kelly Augsburger Brasher as its inaugural Chief School Finance Officer (CSFO). Brasher brings with her more than 20 years of business and finance experience to the newly established residential high school.
For the past 11 years, Brasher served as an accountant for Auburn City Schools, managing a nearly $150 million annual budget. Her expertise includes local school finance, capital projects, bid law, purchasing programs, and fixed assets. The Auburn system, which educates nearly 10,000 students across 14 campuses, ranks in the top 1 percent of Alabama districts by enrollment.
“The depth and breadth of Kelly’s experience in the details of school finance and accounting are exactly what we were seeking,” said President Dr. James “Jimmy” Martin.

Brasher, who begins her new role this week, expressed gratitude for the appointment.
“I look forward to this exciting opportunity to build a department from the ground up,” said Brasher. “And I’m honored to be part of a project that has such great potential to impact communities throughout the state of Alabama.”
Brasher earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accountancy) from Auburn University. She also holds certifications in local school finance administration and purchasing/procurement from the Alabama Association of Business Professionals — qualifications that align closely with her new responsibilities. In her community, she serves as a founding board member and secretary of the Auburn Thunder Soccer Club.
The school’s administration is currently focused on preparing for its planned opening in fall 2026. ASHS is a free, public, residential specialty high school designed to address Alabama’s shortage of trained healthcare professionals — especially in underserved rural areas — through strategic partnerships with medical and educational institutions.
With the appointment, President Martin has officially completed his inaugural leadership team.
