Booing at Trump rally shows the unrealistic demands of the base

Strident conservatives confound me sometimes.

On the issues, I find myself in almost total agreement sans some issues like banning abortion totally and gay marriage (is this still an issue?). But I believe that should be left up to the states to decide, which is truly the most conservative position imaginable.

But some of the tactics and demands of the base of the conservative movement still make me wonder what these people think they are doing.

Look at President Donald Trump’s “Save America Rally” — the two most prominent conservative figures, for which the rally was held, were booed for two minimal silly and self-defeating reasons.

U.S. Representative Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) was booed by some in the crowd for daring to suggest that the 2022 election is of paramount importance.

The line that got him booed?

Brooks told the crowd, “Now, our choices are very simple. There are some people who are despondent about the voter fraud and election theft in 2020. Folks, put that behind you. Put that behind you.”

After the booing, he added, “Alright, well look back at it, but go forward and take advantage of it!”

Jim Acosta he is not. He’s stating the simple fact that at this point you can’t win 2022 if you focus on 2020 non-stop.

Strategically, Mo Brooks is 100% right. This is the same guy being personally sued for giving a speech on January 6, and has had prosecutors talking about charging him for conspiracy for trying to overthrow that 2020 election.

This isn’t an opinion. It is a fact, and Georgia’s U.S. Senate elections are a perfect example. Republicans sat it out because they thought it didn’t matter because people thought the 2020 fight was more important.

Well, if either of those Georgia U.S. Senate seats went to the Republicans, there is no Joe Biden agenda.

You can’t undo that, just like you can’t undo the 2020 election.

This is silly.

But this wasn’t even the silliest thing. Booing former President Donald Trump at his own rally is far more embarrassing.

Trump was booed for touting vaccines as he said, “I believe totally in your freedoms, I do, you gotta do what you gotta do, but I recommend take the vaccines. I did it. It’s good.”

Yes, you read that correctly. All he said was to do what you want and make your decision, but you should get vaccinated.

What an authoritarian monster.

In reality, he is right.

The largest success of the Trump administration, Operation Warp Speed, was booed by his most die-hard supporters.

The success is evident. Among those being hit with the coronavirus these days, at least 85% are unvaccinated.

Trump was never suggesting you have to get vaccinated. He is saying you should.

And you should.

Even if you disagree, say nothing. Don’t give your enemies ammo to take out the people you agree with.

This asinine display allows the media and their Democrats to do a couple of things — declare Republicans are anti-vaxxers and transfer the success of that program to the far more aggressive pro-vaccine Democrats and Joe Biden.

Why help them?

The media has their Democrats, and they all have their narratives. They will twist and manipulate everything to their benefit every time.

The coverage of this “Save America Rally” is a perfect example.
