A Boaz man with three prior felony convictions has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for meth trafficking and firearms offenses after investigators seized more than 300 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun from his home.

U.S. District Judge Corey L. Maze sentenced Logan Chase Turner, 28, following his June guilty plea, U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr. announced.

“This defendant’s criminal history did not deter him from continuing to engage in serious criminal activity,” said U.S. Attorney Williams. “This 15-year sentence holds him accountable and reinforces our commitment to working with our law enforcement partners to target repeat offenders and dismantle drug-trafficking operations.”

According to Turner’s plea agreement, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had been investigating his drug trafficking operations since December 2025.

In January 2026, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit searched Turner’s residence. Officers seized more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a Llama 1911 .45-caliber handgun.

Turner was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of three prior felony convictions in Calhoun County Circuit Court. He was convicted of trafficking fentanyl and attempted assault in March 2023, followed by promoting prison contraband in July 2024.

“ATF prioritizes public safety and is committed to bringing individuals who unlawfully possess firearms to justice,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge James VanVliet. “Mr. Turner, a three-time convicted felon, demonstrated a pattern of criminal behavior by distributing dangerous drugs, illegally possessing a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and ultimately rendering our community vulnerable to harm. ATF will continue to work with our state and local law enforcement partners to disrupt offenders like these.”

Turner pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Federal prosecutors identified Turner as a Boaz resident in April, when they announced charges against 16 people in three separate but related indictments involving drug trafficking and firearms offenses in east Alabama.

The charges were part of a Homeland Security Task Force investigation. The initiative brings together federal agencies and state and local law enforcement partners to investigate criminal organizations.

ATF and the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit investigated Turner’s case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison J. Garnett prosecuted it.
