According to sources in Montgomery, State Rep. Jay Love (R-Montgomery) will be resigning his seat soon and launching a lobbying firm.
Love was elected to the House in 2002 and rose quickly through the GOP ranks, ultimately becoming one of the most powerful players in state government as Chairman of the House Education Budget Committee.
We have also learned that State Rep. Jim Barton (R-Mobile) will likely be announcing his resignation soon, as well. Barton currently serves as Co-Chairman of the House General Fund Budget Committee.
Sources say Barton has been in discussions with several governmental affairs firms in recent weeks expressing his desire to lobby.
I am in Ecuador with limited access to the Internet, so that’s all for now. We will have more info soon.
