The TumTum Tree Foundation has announced Nov. 6-8 as the dates for its annual wine auction weekend, one of the nation’s leading charity wine events.
For more than three decades, the Birmingham-based nonprofit has brought together top chefs, world-class winemakers, and generous supporters to raise millions for Alabama children facing life-altering and life-threatening illnesses.
That mission was underscored at the 2024 auction, where TumTum set a record with nearly $2 million raised. The milestone comes as the needs of the Foundation’s 17 beneficiary organizations continue to grow.
These include the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders, The Bell Center, Mitchell’s Place, Libby’s Friends, and The Red Barn.
The annual three-day event blends intimate wine dinners, a lively tasting, a grand auction, and even a football tailgate. Local restaurants and hospitality partners donate their time and venues, while acclaimed winemakers travel to Birmingham, often contributing rare bottles and exclusive lots crafted just for the TumTum auction.
Rachel Rounsaville of Magic Moments described the impact.
“With the TumTum Tree Foundation by our side, we have brought joy and unforgettable dreams to thousands of children in Alabama facing life’s toughest challenges. A little girl with a serious heart condition took a private dance lesson with the Radio City Rockettes,” she said.
“A child with progressive blindness traveled to see the Grand Canyon. And there are many more – each experience giving the child renewed hope and strength. Our shared commitment with TumTum ensures that no child must wait for the chance to experience these life-changing moments.”
Longtime supporters Frank and Pardis Stitt also praised the Foundation’s impact.
“The TumTum Tree Foundation has been a pillar of good – from the millions raised to support the children in Alabama to the deep and lasting friendships made with the kind souls here in Birmingham and the wine community beyond,” said board member Pardis Stitt.
Board President Jack Bryant credited Birmingham’s community for the success.
“It’s Birmingham’s chefs, the venues, the volunteers, and the bidders who turn generosity into outcomes for kids. That’s the TumTum formula: our local heart paired with incredible experiences driving results that support those who need the help the most.”
With record fundraising and growing national attention, the Foundation continues to highlight both Birmingham’s culinary excellence and its philanthropic spirit.
