U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is highlighting his personal friendship with President Donald Trump and believes that one of the main reasons he should be Alabama’s next U.S. Senator.
Moore, who announced his candidacy for the Senate in August, told Yellowhammer News that he texted the president to congratulate him on securing a historic peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
“I text Donald J. Trump a few days ago and told him I thought the agreement he was pulling together for the release of the hostages was amazing,” Moore said. “Well today he completed one of the greatest victories in peace through diplomacy in our lifetime. Then he took a screenshot of the text and sent it back.”
Trump responded to Moore’s text saying the congressman is also “amazing.”
Moore touted his years long friendship with the current President.
“I’ve known President Trump for nearly a decade, and I’ve always respected his courage to stand up for the American people when it wasn’t easy,” Moore said. “I was proud to be the first elected official to endorse him back in 2015 and I’m just as proud to call him a friend today.”
The congressman has campaigned on continuing his support of Trump and the “America First” agenda if elected to the higher chamber. His current opponents in the race are Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and former U.S. Navy SEAL Jared Hudson.
“His historic peace deal is ‘awesome.’ He is truly the leader of the free world. He brought the hostages home and brokered peace in the middle east,” Moore added. “I look forward to continue my work with President Trump in Congress and when elected to the U.S. Senate.”
