U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is backing up President Donald Trump’s effort to make Washington D.C. great again.
After a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer was brutally beaten in the city earlier this week, Trump told D.C. authorities that they better get their act together or he will “federalize” the city.
“We’re going to beautify the city. We’re going to make it beautiful. And what a shame, the rate of crime, the rate of muggings, killings and everything else. We’re not going to let it, and that includes bringing in the National Guard maybe very quickly too,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Wednesday.
Moore discussed the issue Wednesday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”
“Absolutely, the Democrats in that city are not doing a good job of enforcing law,” Moore said. “Literally, you don’t walk around D.C., especially most areas, at night, without somebody with you. And we had an intern that was shot and killed in a drive by last month, an you saw what happened with this young Doge staffer trying to defend this lady who was under attack.”
The congressman emphasized that the soft on crime approach isn’t currently working for the city.
“And so that’s just what happens when the party that screams defund the police and takes your arms away and then says, ‘defend yourself or call the police,’ but they want to defund the very law enforcement that’s there to help you,” he argued. “And so and in that case where you’ve got these rogue DA’s and AG’s that just turn these criminals loose with a slap on the wrist.”

Moore believes that making the nation’s capital a safer place to be will send a message that America is now going to be focused on law and order.
“It is time we make the nation’s capital secure,” he said. “We have so many people that visit, that come to see the nation’s capital, from around the world, from around this country, they are to be able to walk down the streets of the capital of the United States of America and feel like they’re going to be safe. I think that sends a message. And so we think that federalizing at this point and actually getting the Democrats out of control of law enforcement, of the chaos that they’ve allowed to happen in that city, that just sends the right message that America is back on top, and we’re for law and order in this country, and we’re going to start in the capital of Washington.”
