U.S. Rep. Barry Moore looks like he’s ready to run.
On Friday, Moore (R-Enterprise) said he will make a “BIG” announcement next month, which is anticipated to be the launch of his campaign for U.S. Senate in 2026.
“Come out and enjoy food, live music, and a special announcement,” Moore’s campaign posted.
Notably, the event is being hosted on the other side of the state from his South Alabama home congressional district, at a venue in Sylvania, near Scottsboro.

According to recent statements, Moore says he is still prayerfully considering a run for Tommy Tuberville’s U.S. Senate seat in 2026. Last month, reports began indicating that Moore was preparing to launch his bid sometime in July after the Independence Day holiday.

If this is indeed the announcement anticipated from the three-term Congressman, it will be his first run for statewide office.
Moore was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2010 and served until 2018. He made two initial bids for Congress, first in 2018, coming in third place in the Republican primary behind former U.S. Reps. Martha Roby and Bobby Bright, and then again successfully in 2020.
In 2024, when the U.S. Supreme Court ordered Alabama to re-draw its congressional maps in 2023, Moore was drawn out of the district he lived in, and opted to challenge 1st District congressman and former colleague Jerry Carl. That race became the most competitive GOP primary battle in the 2024 cycle and Moore emerged victorious in the new geography.
Moore’s impending bid for U.S. Senate sets the stage for a political prizefight between him and Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who launched his campaign in May.
