When President Donald Trump returned to the White House, he made clear that the federal government needed to get back to the business of serving the American people. The House of Representatives has spent the 119th Congress working to turn that direction into legislation.

As we head into the October district work period, the House has passed over 900 measures so far this Congress, making the 119th Congress the most productive Congress since 1949, and we are not finished yet. 

We passed the Working Families Tax Cuts, putting more money back into the hands of working Americans while making historic investments in border security and national defense. We passed legislation to secure the border, combat fentanyl and violent crime, strengthen immigration enforcement and give law enforcement the tools they need to keep communities safe.

We worked to unleash American energy production and remove regulations that make it harder to build, manufacture and invest in this country. The House has passed measures addressing housing costs, energy mandates, permitting and other federal rules that affect what families and businesses pay.

We also worked on issues that do not always make national headlines but matter greatly to the people back home, including major legislation affecting veterans, agriculture, financial institutions, and infrastructure.

Republicans have also kept our promise of shrinking the federal government. More than 270,000 federal positions were eliminated, hundreds of deregulatory actions cut an estimated $211.8 billion in regulatory costs, and Congress enacted its first presidential rescissions package in more than three decades.

None of this means the work is finished. Washington did not become too large or too complicated overnight, and it will take more than one Congress to change its course.

But this Congress has shown what is possible when the President and House Republicans work together with a clear mandate.

There are still plenty of challenges ahead. But there is also a record of legislation passed, taxes cut, spending reduced, regulations overturned, energy produced and opportunities created.

For the House of Representatives, this Congress has been about getting back to work and delivering for the American people, and I am proud to be a part of it. 

Just as important as the votes we cast is the work we do for people who need help navigating the federal government. Since I was elected, my team has resolved more than 8,400 cases for constituents and helped return more than $23 million to Alabamians.

Behind every case is a person or family looking for an answer, and serving them remains one of the most important responsibilities of this office.
