In Washington, it’s easy to get caught up in the theatrics and rhetoric. But back home in Alabama, folks are focused on something simpler – making ends meet, keeping their communities safe, and making sure their tax dollars are spent wisely.
Those three things are what I fight for in Congress every day, and why I support the America First agenda we’re advancing alongside President Trump.
Every bill I support starts with one question – how does this help Alabama families?
For example, I introduced the Stop Secret Spending Act, which requires billions in federal spending be reported to the taxpayer, because Alabamians deserve to know exactly how the federal government is using their hard-earned money.
Families in our state balance their budgets every day, Washington should be held to the same standard. Greater transparency means less waste and more accountability. I was proud to see my bill passed out of the Oversight Committee last month 40-0.
I have also pushed back against foreign influence from adversaries like China by cosponsoring bills such as the Protecting America’s Agricultural Land from Foreign Harm Act and supporting the FY2026 Transportation, HUD, and Infrastructure Appropriations Act, which includes funding for cybersecurity and modernization of infrastructure systems that protect our ports and supply chain.
Alabama’s farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses shouldn’t have to compete against unfair practices driven by hostile governments. Protecting our system from that influence helps level the playing field for Alabama workers.
But it’s not just about the bills we introduce, it’s about what Congress passes. I voted for Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills that invest in our national defense, strengthen border security, and support law enforcement.
For Alabama, that means more resources for military installations like Fort Rucker and Redstone Arsenal, better equipment for our law enforcement officers, and safer communities.
These bills also include funding for infrastructure and water systems that directly impact our rural communities. Reliable infrastructure is essential for economic growth, public health, and quality of life.
We’re also putting more money back in American families’ pockets through the Working Families Tax Cuts which I proudly supported. This legislation paired tax relief for Alabama families with real spending restraint to help lower costs. Through this legislation, the average tax cut American taxpayers received was around $3,500 this tax season.
I show up every day in Washington, taking the hard votes and having the tough conversations, because this job is about results. It’s about making sure Alabama families thrive, our communities stay strong, and our future remains bright.
