Barry Moore calls on the Secret Service director to resign – ‘she should be gone yesterday’

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is calling on U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign or be fired from her position due to the security failure leading to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Cheatle has come under increased scrutiny in recent days as more information comes out about how a gunman was able to shoot a Trump with an AR-15 style rifle during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

“She should be gone yesterday,” Moore said Wednesday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”

The House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena to Cheatle Wednesday.

Moore, who sits on the Judiciary Committee, said his committee will be question FBI Director Christopher Wray about the issue as well.

“Yeah, we’ve got a lot of questions,” Moore said. “And and I think they need to be answered. I don’t know how you get a sniper that close on a rooftop that people saw a minute and a half before he pulled off the first round. And Secret Service already had it. He was targeted. He was marked, but they did not return fire until he fired that first shot. That was an absolute failure. The Secret Service, if an assassin gets a fire around off, that is a failure. And he should have been taken out before he ever fired that first shot.”

The congressman also believes that Cheatle shouldn’t be the “scapegoat” for the administration because Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is also responsible for what happened to the former president.

“But I don’t think she should be the scapegoat,” Moore said. “Mayorkas, who’s the Director of Homeland Security under President Biden, who opened the border, Secret Service is under her his purview and we’ve already tried to impeach him. He needs to be gone. But absolutely heads need to roll.”

Moore said he hopes Trump will receive extra security from now on.

“But I think the President needs to look at getting additional Secret Service or at least to protection around him because he is a market man right now and Iran…yesterday, we found that they had initiated some sort of movement to take him out. So we need to protect him. We need to get him to the White House.”
