Bark Air launching first-ever airline for dogs

An airline that is geared for man’s best friend is taking flight starting this week.

BARK Air” is a first-of-its-kind, revolutionary way for your dog to take a flight and not be crammed in a kennel or cargo hold.

Each ticket purchased includes one human as well, but the plane layouts are “dog-centric” with an open layout so that people’s pets can play and interact with each other.

The planes are G5 Gulfstream jets which the company never books to full capacity to ensure extra space for both people and dogs.

“It’s a first-class experience for the dog, a business-class experience for people. We … we cater everything to the dog, trying to lower their anxiety and their stress, so they have the most comfortable, fear-free experience on an airplane,” Bark co-founder and CEO Matt Meeker said.

The downside is the fact that for now, the destinations are limited and the prices make it so that only upper-class dog owners will be able to afford the luxury.

With tickets costing upwards of $6,000, currently Bark’s hubs are in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Paris.

The company, which says to offer a “white-paw experience”, says they are sold out for the rest of may and through the tail end of June.

But if you have a dog to fly and money to spend, Bark Air might just be for you.
