U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) wants Congress to hold members of President Joe Biden’s administration accountable for covering up the president’s mental and physical decline.
The Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony from former first-term Trump administration officials during a hearing on Biden’s decline on Wednesday. Democrats are currently boycotting the proceedings.
“[I]t is clear that there are people within this administration that saw that, and they should be sitting in front of us today answering the question of why they turned their back on America, because that’s exactly what they did,” Britt said during the hearing. “And so whether it’s secretaries, whether it’s people in the administration, or whether it is senior staff. We deserve some accountability. We deserve some answers.”

The senator also discussed the issue during a Wednesday appearance on Newsmax TV.
“It was the autopen-in-chief, no doubt,” Britt said. “Look, we deserve answers. The American people deserve answers. And the fact that my Democratic colleagues today couldn’t show up and try to help us get those, I think, tells the American people everything they need to know. At the end of the day, we know that our Commander in Chief, when it was Joe Biden, he was not in command.”

The issue of Biden’s health has received renewed attention in recent weeks due to the release of the book Original Sin, which details the alleged cover-up of the president’s condition.
“There is no doubt that he was of diminished mental capacity,” Britt continued. “And the question becomes, who was actually making these decisions, whether it is pardons or you look at the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan that sent shock waves, not just through that a region, but the entire world that we are paying the consequences for today….And what we know is, is that while Joe Biden was the president, somebody else was making the decisions, and we need answers to who that was.”
Britt also used her experience as a former Senate staffer to give some perspective on the issue.
“Look, I have been a senior staffer myself,” she explained. “When you have the honor to work in this building, when you have the honor to work to make our country better, you take an oath as well. Those people who took an oath, who chose to turn the other way, or even worse, chose to conceal this from the American people. We deserve accountability from them as well. That’s who needs to be sitting in front of us. We need to know what happened, and we need to ensure that it never it never happens again.”
