Author Matt Walsh slams Boy Scouts for dropping ‘boy’ from title: ‘It’s very sad’

Conservative author Matt Walsh slammed the Boy Scouts of America for dropping the word “boy” from its name and accused the organization of selling out to liberal interests.

“I know that this is a truth that upsets people these days because any obvious truth does, but boys are different than girls,” Walsh said on “Fox & Friends” Thursday. “If we’re concerned with the kind of moral formation of boys and making boys into men, then you need to separate them from girls and give them a different sort of experience.”

“You have this iconic American organization which has now destroyed itself,” said Walsh, who penned “The Unholy Trinity: Blocking the Left’s Assault on Life, Marriage, and Gender.”

Walsh said this is indicative of “bending to the whims of the PC leftist mob” and can be a “lesson for everyone.”

Walsh said he intends to use the incident as a lesson for his son and thinks the group is selling out its identity.

“They’ve completely sacrificed their identity,” he continued. “I don’t want my son to be associated with an organization that would give up its identity and its mission — which was a good, positive mission — just because people are upset. That’s the wrong message.”

Walsh said enrollment in the organization is plummeting because it has abandoned its Christian values.

“I think enrollment is down because they started giving up who they are. They started getting away from their fundamental mission,” he said. “It is a Christian organization. So the more they get away from that, the more they lose people.”
