The Auburn Tigers at Mississippi State Bulldogs football game initially planned for Saturday, November 14, has been rescheduled to December 12 after an unknown number of Mississippi State players contracted COVID-19.
The Southeastern Conference made the news official with a tweet on Monday afternoon, in which the conference described the game as being “tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12.”
NEWS | The Auburn at Mississippi State FB game of Nov. 14 is postponed due to positive tests & subsequent quarantine of individuals within the MSU FB program.
The action is consistent with SEC COVID-19 management requirements. The game is tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12.

News of the outbreak among Mississippi State players was first reported by Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated.
With the postponement, Auburn is now set to have two straight weeks off following a scheduled bye week.
The game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers scheduled for Saturday is also in jeopardy of postponement due to cases among LSU players, but as of 2:15 p.m., official word has not yet been handed down on a delay.
The coronavirus is currently taking a heavy toll on the SEC. In addition to the two most prominent teams in the Yellowhammer State, Texas A&M has shut down football activities and Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman has tested positive.
