Coleman Coliseum, home of the University of Alabama basketball program, has been the subject of much scrutiny over the last few years with plans for a new one being delayed.
However, at least one rival player appreciates the historic venue that has stood since the 1960s.
When asked about Coleman, Auburn basketball center Dylan Cardwell said he likes it — and that it looks like abstract art.

“I enjoy it, I don’t know why it gets so much hate. Everyone says it’s ugly, but when it’s full I enjoy the ‘ugliness’ of it, I think it’s like abstract art,” Cardwell says.
The Striped Palace, the Airplane Hangar, whatever name you want to put on it. Coleman Coliseum has its issues and fans are certainly looking forward to a new arena, but it also has a unique appearance and charm to it that not many other places can say.
With a capacity of just under 15,000 and having hosted nearly 800 men’s basketball games inside it, Coleman Coliseum has certainly seen a good bit of history.
The Crimson Tide boast a record of 639-156 with a winning percentage of .814 in the building, and perhaps more importantly this week, the Auburn Tigers traditionally struggle there, having only won a total of ten games in the building since it opened in 1968.
Even legendary Auburn head coach Sonny Smith, who brought the Tigers further than they had ever been in the NCAA Tournament before Bruce Pearl took them to the Final Four, won just once in his eleven games at Coleman Coliseum.
Appreciate Coleman while it’s still here. Dylan Cardwell certainly does.
