Auburn has staggering Vegas odds to reach Final Four – Alabama not far behind

The Auburn men’s basketball team is in the midst of what may very well be their best basketball season in program history.

Dominating their way through an SEC conference which is having a historic season itself, the Tigers reaffirmed themselves as the best team in the country when they went to Tuscaloosa this past weekend and defeated the then No. 2 Crimson Tide in their building.

FanDuel Sportsbook released their latest odds for each team to reach the Final Four — something Auburn has done just once in program history — and they have some absolutely absurd odds:

The Tigers are seen by Vegas as -160 favorites to reach the biggest stage in the sport, meaning you would have to place a $160 wager to win just $100. Having minus odds at all for a feat so rare is incredible, and Auburn is not only favored by seemingly strongly favored as well.

Alabama on the other hand is an underdog just like most every other team in the nation, but the +200 odds (bet $100 to win $200) are the fifth-best in the nation for the Tide to make a return to the Final Four.

Playing basketball for over 100 years, it took the Tigers until 2019 and Alabama until 2024 for each to reach their first Final Four. Auburn’s first appearance ended in a heartbreaking close defeat to eventual national champion Virginia, while the Tide were the victims of a historic run for back-to-back national champs Connecticut.

It’s going to be a fun March in the Yellowhammer State, but the spotlight – and subsequently the pressure – is certainly squarely on Auburn and Alabama.
