The Auburn Tigers have dismissed defensive back Antonio Kite from the program, according to a Wednesday evening report by Jay G. Tate from Auburn Rivals.
Kite made headlines this offseason when he transferred to Auburn from Alabama shortly after the retirement of Nick Saban in the mass exodus of players from Tuscaloosa. Reports allege the reason for his dismissal from Auburn’s program is missing practice on multiple occasions.
With six tackles and one interception on the season, Kite was not seeing much playing time on defense over the last month after he struggled mightily in the Tigers’ loss to Arkansas, playing in every game this season but being relegated to special teams for the most part as of late.
An Anniston native, Kite initially chose Alabama in the high school class of 2022 over Auburn and others.
Kite was not necessarily seen as someone who was in line to start at Alabama even after Saban’s departure which led to his decision to transfer. As of Thursday, his next intentions are unknown and whether or not he gets a chance somewhere else remains to be seen.
