Auburn coaches film coronavirus PSA: ‘Stay home, stop the spread and save lives’

Auburn University coaches Gus Malzahn, Bruce Pearl and Butch Thompson have filmed a public service announcement calling for every Alabamian to join the team fighting against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The video featuring the respective head coaches of Auburn football, basketball and baseball calls for “teamwork” in keeping one another safe amid the pandemic and flattening the curve.

“In the world of athletics, we know all too well the importance of teamwork in order to achieve a greater good. It’s imperative to use the same approach in our fight against the spread of COVID-19,” Auburn Athletics Director Allen Greene said in a statement.

In the 30-second PSA, Malzahn, Pearl and Thompson ask all to wash their hands often for 20 seconds, frequently disinfect touched surfaces and properly practice social distancing.

“We must all rally as one in the fight against this virus,” Auburn President Jay Gogue stated.

The PSA was released on Friday by the university as a unifying message that, in addition to promoting good hygiene, also asks the public to “stay home, stop the spread and save lives.”
