Arrest of ISIS border infiltrators comes after exact warning from Sen. Katie Britt

After eight Tajikistani nationals with ties to ISIS were apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, U.S. Senator Katie is reviving her call for Senate leadership to organize a full briefing for lawmakers on the threat of ISIS terrorism leaking into the country through a vulnerable southern border.

In recent days, Britt’s fears have been fully realized after ICE reported that it arrested eight suspected ISIS-K terrorists who entered America illegally by way of the border. The arrests took place in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.

Britt is reiterating her call for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democrat leadership take the threat seriously and schedule a briefing to immediately analyze the true scope of the issue.

“70 days ago, Senator Graham and I called for an all-member classified briefing on the rising threat of ISIS-K and other terror organizations against our homeland. Yesterday’s reporting confirmed our warnings – the porous southern border is putting every American in danger,” said Britt of the news. “Thankfully, incredible law enforcement officers, including ICE personnel, arrested these individuals before they could harm innocent Americans. This should be an urgent wake-up call to people on both sides of the aisle.”

“I continue to call on Senator Schumer to schedule a classified briefing for all Senators on the rising threat of radical Islamic terror groups taking advantage of the ongoing border crisis.”

The Department of Homeland Security and FBI issued a joint statement to the New York Post regarding the arrests.

“Over the last few days, ICE agents arrested several non-citizens pursuant to immigration authorities,” said the agencies. “The actions were carried out in close coordination with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces. The individuals arrested are detained in ICE custody pending removal proceedings … The FBI and DHS will continue working around the clock with our partners to identify, investigate, and disrupt potential threats to national security.”

Britt and Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) first began requests for a classified briefing in April. So far, one has not been scheduled.
