Army and Navy both undefeated and ranked in AP Poll for first time since 1960

It has been a special season for the two bitter rivals who face each other annually in America’s Game, held the week after conference championship week.

For the first time since 1960, both of the two main service academies, Army and Navy, are ranked in the AP Top 25 at the same time. The Black Knights are ranked No. 23 and the Midshipmen come in at No. 25.

Army is 6-0 and leading the AAC, while fellow undefeated 5-0 Navy sits just the half game behind having already played a bye week. While both team’s still have difficult matchups coming up against Notre Dame before they face each other, it’s an incredible thing to see both rated in the polls.

There is also the potential for chaos over the College Football Playoff and the Group of 5 team that qualifies. While both Army and Navy would likely need to defeat Notre Dame to be seriously considered, if they enter their rivalry game both undefeated, the playoff selection would occur the week before the game is played.

What exactly the committee would do in this scenario is a major mystery and a small flaw in the expanded College Football Playoff system that they likely did not consider.

For those of you who simply want to root for chaos, here’s your chance.
