Arkansas pitcher throws historic no hitter in victory to keep Razorbacks alive

The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Murray State Racers on Monday afternoon to stay alive in the College World Series and advance for a chance to face off against LSU in a rematch of their first game on Tuesday.

Not only was the victory a massive win for the program and for the SEC as a whole though, it was also historic.

Razorbacks pitcher Gage Wood tossed just the third no hitter in men’s College World Series history, and he did it by striking out an absurd 19 Murray State batters.

Incredibly, Wood hit a batter in the eighth inning, something which if he had not done would have made his feat a perfect game.

Now having to battle their way through the loser’s bracket, Arkansas will have to defeat LSU as they could not over the weekend in order to stay alive and keep their national championship dream a potential reality.
