Another one: Cochran adds Bama, Stallions legend Bo Scarbrough to West Alabama staff

Former Alabama Crimson Tide strength and conditioning coach and Georgia Bulldogs special teams coordinator Scott Cochran continues to make headlines with his new coaching staff as the head coach at the University of West Alabama.

Just one day after hiring legendary Alabama tight end O.J. Howard as director of player development, Cochran has hired another Crimson Tide legend he used to coach in former Alabama and Birmingham Stallions running back Bo Scarbrough as the program’s director of high school relations.

Scarbrough becomes the fourth Alabama player to join the staff, joining Howard along with Blake Sims as wide receivers coach and Ronnie Clark as running backs coach.

It’s a bold strategy from Cochran to fill his staff with former players who do not have much coaching experience, but in the area of recruiting it should be an invaluable tool.

Scarbrough ran for over 1,500 yards during his Crimson Tide career along with 20 touchdowns, eventually being drafted in 2018 by the Dallas Cowboys. He would eventually end up back in the Yellowhammer State, helping the Stallions to win USFL championships in both 2022 and 2023 before officially retiring from football.

Now as part of a college staff, Tide fans will follow the post-playing career of Scarbrough closely, and meanwhile Cochran gives fans around the state another reason to pay attention to his program.
