American Conservative Union backs Hillyer in AL01

ACU-PACThe American Conservative Union (ACU) Political Action Committee (PAC) has officially endorsed Quin Hillyer for U.S. House of Representatives in Alabama’s First District.

“Quin Hillyer stands out among the candidates for Alabama’s First District as a principled conservative who will bring Alabama’s values to Washington rather than the other way around,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “As a commentator and author, Quin Hillyer has dedicated his career to advancing conservative principles of limited government and traditional values through the written word. We urge conservatives in Alabama’s First District to give Quin Hillyer the opportunity to put those words into action by voting for him in the special election on September 24.”

The ACU Political Action Committee is the political arm of the American Conservative Union, which claims to be the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization. They’ve become most widely known in recent years for producing the annual CPAC event in Washington, D.C., which attracts a who’s who of conservative grassroots leaders, elected officials and pundits from across the country.

“The committee supports candidates for office who reflect the conservative principles on which ACU was founded,” the organization said in a release. “The goals of the ACU PAC are to increase the number of quality candidates who share our commitment to conservative principles and to protecting and advancing the fiscal, social and security priorities of the Reagan era.”

The ACU’s endorsement of Hillyer was also tweeted out by RedState.com founder Erick Erickson.
