Ali Pilcher: A community leader bridging generations at Vestavia Hills

Ali Pilcher, a dedicated community advocate and Vestavia Hills alumna, has taken on yet another leadership role to benefit her hometown. As the new leader of the 1Legacy campaign for Vestavia Hills City Schools, Pilcher is working tirelessly to strengthen connections between the school system, alumni, and the broader community.

A 1998 graduate of Vestavia Hills High School, Pilcher has always been deeply rooted in the community. After earning her bachelor’s degree in political science from Auburn University and a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she taught history and psychology at Hoover High School from 2004 to 2012. She then shifted her focus to raising her two daughters while maintaining her active involvement in local school initiatives.

Pilcher’s journey with the Vestavia Hills City Schools began in her youth and continued as a parent and volunteer. In 2019, when Dolly Ridge Elementary opened, she became part of the PTO and eventually served as president during the 2021-22 school year. Soon after, she joined the Vestavia Hills PTO Council, where she served as vice president for community partners (fundraising) for three years and will step into the president’s role in May 2025 for a two-year term.

Pilcher will become the president of Leadership Vestavia Hills this May, adding to her list of leadership roles. This is a testament to her commitment to local development and community engagement. She is a 2023 graduate of Leadership Vestavia Hills and has served as the class coordinator, managing agendas and logistics for monthly meetings.

Pilcher’s newest endeavor, the 1Legacy campaign, aims to rekindle the sense of community among Vestavia Hills school alumni and residents. The campaign seeks to connect current students and community members with alumni who can share experiences, mentorship, and support. The goal is to create a sustainable network where relationships can flourish long after graduation.

Participation in the 1Legacy network is free, and members receive quarterly updates through a digital magazine. In addition to staying informed about school events and activities, participants can also choose to support specific programs through donations, whether for sports, theater, robotics, or other initiatives. The program aims to bridge the generational gap and highlight the achievements of notable alumni who continue to make an impact.

Pilcher’s passion for her community is clear, and her dedication to fostering unity and support is unwavering. Whether it’s through her leadership roles or simply lending a helping hand, she strives to give back to the community that shaped her.

Those who want to get involved can visit the 1Legacy website at 1legacy.me to learn more and sign up. Joining the network not only keeps alumni informed but also builds stronger ties between generations of Vestavia Hills students and families.
