ALGOP summer dinner to feature national conservative heavyweights

This year’s Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) summer dinner will feature a speaking lineup of three high-profile leaders of the national conservative movement.

In a Friday release, ALGOP announced that South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), Georgia Republican U.S. Senate nominee Herschel Walker and Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch would be the dinner’s guest speakers.

Noem, who has seen her popularity among the Republican base intensify in recent years, was elected governor of South Dakota in 2018. She has emerged as a vocal critic of the Biden administration, leading efforts to combat perceived federal overreach by the Biden administration.

The governor, who is routinely featured in Fox News Channel interviews, is considered by many political pundits to be a potential contender for the 2024 GOP presidential ticket.

Walker, who earlier this year earned the endorsement of U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), will seek to unseat incumbent U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) in November’s general election.

As Georgia currently holds an all-Democratic upper chamber delegation, the Peach State’s senatorial election is considered to be one of the most highly-contested races in the nation.

As Mississippi’s attorney general, Fitch saw her brand grow due to the state’s role in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark abortion case of Roe v. Wade.

In the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Fitch’s legal strategy led the nation’s high court to consider the merits of the now-defunct 1973 abortion rights decision.

Yellowhammer State GOP officials participating in the program include U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, Attorney General Steve Marshall and Republican U.S. Senate nominee Katie Britt.

In announcing the party’s guest speaker lineup, ALGOP chairman John Wahl conveyed his excitement over welcoming the high-profile Republicans to the state of Alabama.

“We are excited to present such a dynamic lineup for our Summer Meeting this year,” expressed Wahl. “Kristi Noem is one of America’s favorite governors, Herschel Walker has energized people across the country with his common sense conservative message, and Attorney General Fitch has a remarkable story for her role arguing before the Supreme Court in the case that overturned Roe v. Wade this year. These Republican figures are working hard to restore America, and we look forward to welcoming them to Sweet Home Alabama.”

The ALGOP summer dinner will be held on Friday, August 12 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center at 7:00 p.m. CST.
