ALGOP chair John Wahl cosponsors RNC censure resolution of U.S. Reps. Cheney, Kinzinger — ‘We won’t stand for it any longer’

During its winter meeting last week in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Republican National Committee (RNC) passed a formal resolution to censure U.S. Reps. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.).

The two critics of former President Donald Trump were met with a formal censure as the RNC suggested that they “support Democrat efforts to destroy President Trump more than they support winning back a Republican majority in 2022.”

Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) chair John Wahl, a cosponsor of the RNC resolution, in a statement slammed Cheney and asserted that Republicans would no longer allow her actions to go unchecked.

“Congresswoman Cheney continues to show no remorse for voting to impeach President Trump – not only against the wishes of her constituents in Wyoming, but also against Republican voters across America including Alabama,” proclaimed Wahl. “That in itself is disappointing. However, when she continues to give interviews to the media a year later, doubling down on socialist Democrat talking points against the President, it’s time for our Party to call her out and let her know we won’t stand for it any longer.”

The RNC’s move to publicly denounce Cheney resembles a similar effort by the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) state executive committee, which passed a resolution last year calling for the Wyoming congresswoman to be removed as chair of the House Republican Conference.

Wahl added, “This is an important issue to Alabama’s Republican voters. The ALGOP State Executive Committee voted overwhelmingly in favor of removing her as Conference Chair. I’m proud to represent the members of the Alabama Republican Party on the RNC, and also proud to stand with my fellow chairmen, as we work to Restore America and take back the U.S. House and Senate.”
