The Alabama Farmers Federation’s FarmPAC has endorsed Montgomery County Commissioner Dimitri Polizos in the Republican primary special election for House District 74.
“After meeting Dimitri Polizos, I understand why our local board chose to endorse Dimitri in his race for the state legislature,” said Paul Pinyan, Executive Director of the Alabama Farmers Federation. “Commissioner Polizos has a solid record of promoting economic development and property rights, and I trust he will be a common sense conservative member of the State House.”
The endorsement was made after the Montgomery County Farmers Federation board of directors met with all three candidates in the race.
“Farmers are business people, and they know the definition of hard work. As a restaurant owner, I appreciate their commitment to their profession,” Polizos said. “I am excited to have the support of the Alabama Farmers Federation because we share common goals of good government, fiscal responsibility and economic growth.”
Polizos’ competition in the race includes two candidates with extensive education policy experience. Charlotte Meadows was the Montgomery County Public School Board President, and Heather Sellers is a current School Board member.
Meadows’ campaign has focused on education, while Sellers has spent a lot of time talking about cleaning up crime in the capital city.
FarmPAC’s endorsement will likely mean an infusion of both financial resources and grassroots support for the Polizos campaign, which currently trails the other two candidates in fundraising.
The three will face off in the special primary election on October 8th.
