While most voters across North Alabama went to the polls for municipal elections today, others cast their votes in an Alabama House District 11 Special General Election.

Republican Heath Allbright garnered 2,783 votes (88.38%) over Democrat Alex Braswell, who had 351 votes (11.15%) to win the seat to represent portions of Cullman and Blount counties, including Blountsville, Oneonta and Hanceville.

iThe seat became vacant this year when former State Rep. Randall Shedd joined the staff of Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger.

“I want to congratulate Heath Allbright on his strong victory tonight,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl. “Heath has proven himself to be a conservative leader, a man of faith … I know he will bring that same dedication to the State House.

“The voters of House District 11 chose well, and I look forward to working alongside Heath to keep Alabama strong.”
