As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, Alabama is inviting residents to join in the celebration by reserving a special America250AL license plate.

The campaign, titled “Be one of the first 250!”, encourages Alabamians to pre-commit to the commemorative tag for $50. At least 250 reservations are needed to make the plate available statewide. Proceeds will support events across the state, including celebrations at American Village in Montevallo, known as Alabama’s Celebration Capital.

The license plate is part of America250, a national initiative recognizing 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Alabama’s participation centers on the themes of educating, engaging, and uniting residents through programs that highlight the state’s role in the nation’s story.

The campaign also aims to increase civic awareness, promote appreciation for American history, and honor veterans through efforts like the Veterans Register of Honor.
