Alabama Reps. Paul Lee, R-Dothan, and April Weaver, R-Brierfield, recently joined state legislative leaders from across the country at the National Conference for State Legislatures (NCSL) Symposium for Emerging Leaders.
The meeting brought together up and coming legislators from around the country for seminars, lectures and small-group discussions geared toward developing the country’s next crop of state leaders.
Attendees were nominated by their leadership to attend the conference, and Weaver and Lee were both nominated by Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard, R-Auburn.
This year’s symposium took place October 28th-30th at the NIKE campus in Beaverton, Oregon. The meeting was designed to help legislative leaders expand their leadership and legislative skills by interacting with business executives and veteran legislators.
“I am honored to have been selected to attend this exclusive seminar and am eager to put to use the ideas I learned both in my district and in Montgomery,” said Rep. Weaver. “A good leader is never done learning, and events like this one provide a great opportunity to hear from experts in multiple fields on the important issues of the day.”
“I am eager to put into practice the new skills and ideas I learned at the Emerging Leaders Symposium,” Rep. Lee added. “I am honored to have been selected to represent Alabama at this event and know that my participation and attendance will make me an even better representative for the people of House District 86.”
