Former Navy Seal and current U.S. Senate candidate Jared Hudson believes President Donald Trump made the right call in ordering the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Former Venezuela President Maduro and his wife were captured and arrested early Saturday morning after a large scale strike by the U.S. military. They appeared in a Manhattan federal court on Monday.
“I am innocent. I am not guilty. I am a decent man. I am still president of my country,” Maduro told the judge.
Hudson, who is running to replace U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville for Alabama’s Senate seat in 2026, lauded the capture during an appearance on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”
“It’s a show for the whole world to see,” Hudson said. “This is United States of America. You want to play games? We can play games better than you can.”
The former Navy Seal argued that the capture and arrest were necessary for multiple reasons.
“I support it from two ends, because I’m still a law enforcement officer here in the state of Alabama, but one is as Seal, obviously, anytime you get to see a tier one unit, you know, I mean the best in the business, Delta and Rangers go in with FBI, HRT and some of their DEA counterparts to capture an international criminal,” he said. “And somebody who, even during the Biden administration, was had a bounty on his head like it was. It’s not like this is something that Trump just drummed up in his new this is something that’s been going on for multiple administrations. And Trump just said, ‘Hey, we’re going to do it to go in and snatch that dude out of his bed in the middle of night.’ I mean, that is huge.”
“We bagged a narco, commie dictator out of his bed, flew him to New York to face justice for flooding what drugs and and and and even people in our streets, illegal immigrants, you know, trafficking people and drugs across the border,” he added.
Hudson also hit back against some in the Democratic Party who are coming out against Trump’s actions.
“We got a bunch of Democrats that are screaming about imperialism, but we know what they want to do,” he said. “They want to dump billions of our taxpayer dollars into NGOs that fund things like trans-musicals in Caracas or, you know, whatever else is going on. So I just really like the fact that Trump put America first. This is truly protecting American citizens, and he did it in a very effective, efficient and mitigated a lot of risk sort of way.”
The Senate candidate said this operation was ultimately about protecting Americans.
“We see the purpose of this,: he explained. “It’s protecting the American people, it’s helping people that don’t want to be ruled by a tyrant. All the same folks that are screaming ‘no kings’ and the no kings protests are upset that we took out a tyrant, right? And it’s kind of surprising to me, because that’s what I would say, 100% has the authority to do it, and if it wasn’t kept quiet in the way they did, and then made public after it happened, we’re looking at something that’s possibly distinctly different, because we let the bad guys know we were coming. It could mean the cost of American lives.”
“So I think that that is that’s the first thing the President’s trying to uphold, life, American lives and liberty for Americans, but also liberty for those who need to be our partners in our hemisphere and the pursuit of happiness, which is really the ability to to live life and own property in the way that we see fit as Americans,: he continued. “And I think that’s exactly what the president did. He did exactly what his job was, and that’s to protect the United States of America and our interest.”
