Alabama State Rep. Susan DuBose recently joined Stephanie Smith of the Alabama Policy Institute in a discussion on a number of Alabama-related topics, including the state’s fight against radical gender ideology pushed by the Biden Administration.
The two spoke specifically about the attempt by the federal government to redefine the definition of sex.
“The change that the Biden Administration was trying to force on schools by a simple rule change in administration, without even a vote of Congress, they were going to change the definition of sex, which would have had so many effects on all of us,” said Dubose. “So changing Title IX to have that effect would have changed women’s sports and affected women in the bathroom. There were so many implications with that change.”
DuBose credited partners throughout the state for fighting against the proposed rule change and saving Alabama’s children.
“There was always somebody there from the Attorney General’s office, usually Steve Marshall, who’s fabulous, a big fan of Steve Marshall. And the fact that he took that much time to travel statewide on this, this issue was really, really important. So it was fun to be a partner with him. It was fun to be a partner statewide. We had Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth come in and speak. We had Barry Moore down in Baldwin County. So, really, it was informing the community on this issue and what the effect could have been. Thank goodness Steve Marshall was able to win an injunction and a stay. We were one of 26 states that did not have to implement that law.”
DuBose called it “unbelievable” that two dozen other states chose to accept the rule.
“Imagine this, though. In 24 states, that law went into effect,” she said. “That’s what’s so scary. But with Trump in office now, we can all say what we know to be true. You know, there is a difference between men and women. God made us different.”
The lawmaker believes that the vast majority of Alabamians have common sense and “know the truth” about gender definitions.
“We have polled this, and it polls so high with Democrats and Republicans in all races. I’m glad to know that now the nation as a whole has caught on to what Alabama has known for a very long time.”
