Hoover Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a husband and wife were found dead Tuesday morning at a private residence.

According to police, the Hoover 911 Center received a call at approximately 9:03 a.m. after a family member discovered the couple unresponsive inside the home. A 3-year-old child was also inside the residence and was not harmed.

Hoover Fire-Medics responded to the scene and pronounced both individuals deceased from gunshot wounds.

Authorities said the investigation remains in its early stages but that the deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide. Police also stated there is no threat to the public.

WBRC later confirmed that one of the individuals found dead was Christina Chambers, a former sports reporter with extensive ties to Alabama television and athletics. In a statement shared on X, the station said it was “absolutely heartbroken” and asked the public to keep both Chambers’ family and the WBRC team in their thoughts as they navigate the loss.

Chambers joined the station in 2015 and became a regular part of its sports coverage, including Friday night high school football programming and major athletic events. She stepped away from her full-time role in July 2021 but continued contributing as a freelance sports reporter during the 2025 football season.

Before joining WBRC, Chambers worked as a sports reporter and anchor at WAKA in Montgomery. She previously held reporting roles at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, and Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta, where she covered Auburn University athletics and high school football.

She also provided freelance reporting for Raycom Media and the Alabama High School Athletic Association during championship events.

A native of Cullman, Chambers was a former Division I cross country and track athlete at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also earned a journalism degree.

Police have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
